SGNIC To Implement A Pilot Scheme
The Singapore Network Information Centre (SGNIC) will implement [email protected], a pilot scheme that aims to enhance the trustworthiness of .sg domain names and prevent abuse of domain names by fake or stolen identity on 2 May 2013. The new scheme will apply to all new .SG domain names registration (i.e. domain names ending with .sg – e.g. com.sg, org.sg, net.sg, edu.sg, per.sg, gov.sg and .sg).
[email protected] will utilise SingPass (Singapore Personal Access) to identify the domain name registrant through the administrative contact, who will be asked to log into the [email protected] portal using their SingPass ID, and in turn verify the identity and contact information of the domain name registrant.
The administrative contact will have 21 calendar days from the date of registration to verify the registrant’s identity and contact information. Failure to comply with this requirement will lead to the suspension of the domain name.
** This scheme does not affect existing “.sg” domain names or registrations done before 2 May.
